    Finally managed to disconnect the annoying Samsung Smart TV but the TV does not see the aerial connection. Nothing wrong with the aerial or cables as it was working fine on my old tv. Saw a post earlier that lots of people were having similar problems. The tv is a Samsung UE43AU9000KXXU. Thanks in advance.

    Steps to get a perfect earc setup: 1 - on every device except for TV disable CEC or HDMI control. Apple TV, Sky Q, Xbox, PS5.     I am (still) able to work around the problem by activating the mic via the smart remote, saying "Apps" and then browsing for, say, Netflix. I had to log in again to that service due to the reset. I have made life slightly easier for myself by changing the option: Settings > General > Smart Features > Autorun Last App.
