    Recovery has been okay, not easy, but, maneageble with help at home. Approx 6-8 weeks. First 2 weeks toughest. Recs: Lots of rest, elevation and ice is required per MD orders. Only walking to bathroom and use of boot. Weight bearing on heal only with boot worn at all times.

    Posted 10 years ago. Hi, Although I only had my both feet done separately, I don't know what I would do if I had to do it again. The downside of doing one at a time is that we have to make two comebacks. I can relate because I am also very active and thrive on staying fit. I've gained probably 10 or more pounds.

    I am 3 months post surgery. I have had the same procedure, bunion & hammertoe and a torn liagment. I also have a lot of scar tissue build on the ball of my foot beneath the hammertoe. My range of motion for my big toe is not good. I have heard that some people have a manipulation done to help the toe start moving properly.

If you do one foot at a time if something goes wrong at least you can still walk with the other foot. These risks are real. I personally would only do one foot at a time.
