Epic is wonderful because gives more porcentage of earnings to Devs and Studios. Beyond that... well, there's the free games, but that comes with a catch. That catch is that some games are base games wth a lot of DLC (that's the business) or, very cheap games that usually cost 1-4 USD bundled or historical low.

Happened with Subnautica, which was much buggier on Epic compared to the Steam version for a long while. A much bigger selection of games. These days there are launchers everywhere, consolidating as many of your games as possible on to 1 platform is the best thing you can do. Steam generally has the best new releases.

Epic isn't going out of business. They make tons of money with their games and engine. Currently they aren't making their goals with the store, but they didn't expect to turn a profit on the store until after 2028. Fortnite is winding down compared with before, but they still have a cash cow with Unreal Engine 5.
