They raised the price of the OLED Limited Edition. News. When the initial announcement took place, the LE deck was going for $819 Canadian. Check today, it's up to $859. Regular 1TB OLED deck is still $819. Wonder why the price increase. Edit: I realize now that I really should have taken a picture. I still had it open from the initial ...
Steam Deck OLED Available Now! Make Your OLED Dreams Come True! The limited edition OLED Steam Deck still avaliable. I'm not sure how 'limited' the limited editon steam deck is. I just ordered one without any issues yet from the posts a few days ago, they seem to have sold out. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.
The LE is approximately 22g lighter than the regular version. This could be due to the case materials, oled panel differences (next bullet), or some other internal differences. This weight difference is more apparent than you might think. My LE has a BOE oled panel and the regular edition has a Samsung oled Panel.
Plus, the OLED would benefit even more with a muted blacked out Deck which would make the OLED colors pop out even more. Finally, orange works great with black, but then you have different content on screen e.g. a desert scene or some muted scene, the orange thumbsticks will detract from it.
Yup lol. My 35 year old dad self is stuck at work with my shitty cell service trying to log in. I should get some perk for having steam since '05 lol Edit: And website now says the limited edition is out of stock. I guess I'll go pay bills instead lol
Not really no. I've been on this sub every day since pretty much 2021, I have only seen a small number of cracks on black shells. and usually it's up near the top vent where the plastic is thinnest, not near the bottom like these limited edition models are cracking. I've had 2 LCD decks and my OLED and none have ever cracked.
Being a softer plastic than the (what I believe is) polycarbonate of the LE, the halves of the shell mate more readily. I assume it is thicker because it’s slightly heavier than the LE. This may also be a result of panel differences. Glass: The matte finish of the LE didn’t have a big impact on clarity or contrast.

You're seeing a reflection off the inner smooth surface of the inside of the translucent shell. The outside is textured. You can tell by looking at the VALVE logo box on the back. Inside of the part is polished, outside is textured. This is super common on most plastic parts.
