Rented several of the subcompacts once and the Shield Plus shot the best, pretty close to the G48 for me but all were much snappier (subjective, I know) than the G26. G26 feels like I'm shooting a full-size gun, particularly when shooting with defensive ammo. So got a Gen 5 26 and have been happy with it so far.

Noponer. 2721 posts · Joined 2006. #4 · Nov 22, 2018 (Edited) G26 Gen5's use the same RSA as Gen4's, but there is a new version for both, with 0-8-2 marking instead of the 0-8-1. Someone called Glock & was told that the newer RSA is ever so slightly heavier. OK by me - I just bought a new G26 Gen5 & have 2 spare RSA's marked 0-8-1.
1117 posts · Joined 2017. #16 · Feb 15, 2022. First session with the 26.5 yesterday and the Magpul 12 rounders were flawless. Had 2 mags and loaded from 3-12 round variants with each without a hiccup. Put about 100 rounds in so if that is the same next session they'll be in the rotation for carry.

I have owned several Glocks of the Gen 2, 3, 4 and 5 and can state that for me, the lack of finger grooves and the improved trigger of the Gen 5 models make them the one to buy. snowbird.40.
As the G26 Gen5 is not available until January 22nd, not sure there's viable information on performance as yet. Either a Gen 3 or 4 would suffice though to give you a good idea on how it shoots. I have both a G43 and a G26 Gen4, I shoot the G26 so much better so that is the one that get's the majority of carry time.
HOWEVER early G26 models have smooth finger grooves - most Glock enthusiasts consider this a gen 2.5. Glock uses the term commercial to refer to products for the general public.
