it can be many of a series o scams (pig slaughtering, wrong number, etc). The common thing is that they will first try to extract information, earn your trust, and play on your weaknesses. Then quickly comes the part where you lose money. 16. zhyrafa.
Likely scam calls with 510 area code. Local. Earlier today, I got a call from this man who claimed to be some sort of police officer/trooper and he was asking for donations or something like that. When I hesitated, he told me to think about the dead officers that gave up their lives. Shortly after that, the call suddenly ended.
Yeah, I have a 347 area code and don't even live in NY anymore but I get around 4 or 5 spam calls per day from 929 area code numbers. My phone auto blocks the calls so then I just end up with all of these spam voicemails - always mortgage, health, consumer council etc.
I received a similar scam-call this morning (12/7/23), from 610-982-8283. I was similarly taken aback by the fact that they knew my account's primary email address, and were obviously able to correlate it with the phone number they called. The scammer claimed someone in "a foreign country" was trying to add a secondary email to my account.
r/lexington. The front page of Lexington, KY. MembersOnline. •. CryptoRushing. ADMIN MOD. Anyone else receiving mass scam calls recently? I have been increasingly receiving scam calls from 606 area code for over two weeks now. Live in Lexington, don’t know if it’s a targeted campaign or what.
Lucky you. Most of the spam/scam/phishing attempts I receive not only appear to be from within my area code, but also within my 3-digit prefix (exchange). The caller ID is normally fake, and there's normally some sort of link in the message itself.

The people doing these scam calls have learned that people are more likely to answer if it is a local number. Blocking each one won’t help because the numbers are spoofed. Unfortunately no one seems to have come up with a solution other than screening all calls.
I've had 2 in the past 3 weeks. The area code is in rural VA - I never answer and they never leave a message. I am getting bombarded with these too. Smh. I don't know what to do except block the numbers. All this week I’ve been getting “silenced” calls from a 276 number. They call, get my Vmail, then hang up.
