Has better support for Google programs and assistant, and uses AI for smart replies, etc. Samsung Messages is less buggy, supports more OneUi specific features, has more customization, ability to define own catagies, pin more messages, chance message backgrounds, etc and supports RCS regionally if your carrier enables it.
Samsung Messages is way better in terms of stability, UI and animation. I don't understand why Samsung has a modified version of Google Messages if it is 99% the same as the version used by other Android devices. Google Messages is trash in terms of UI. It doesn't have animation when opening/closing a conversation.
I'd prefer using the Samsung messages for a couple of reasons. The colors are a bit more bold and less pastel, also until presumably One UI 5 based off Android 13 the Google messages app doesn't theme with the wallpaper. The Samsung one does. RCS isn't really that big of a deal to me, that being said Google have been making some pretty good ...
I recently swapped back to Samsung Messages for a few days. The true black colorway (G messages is grey), the ability to pin 20 conversations (vs 5 in G messages), and the ability to show all unread messages are real pros. G messages otherwise has more features (spam filtering, plays nice with iPhone, etc.). Ended up using G messages again.
s22 has samsung messages out of the box and i use it solely. i disabled the google messages to avoid confusion. Google messages. I find the spam filter is better. the online pwa drains less battery than the windows phone link from my experience. Idle drain with windows link and samsung messages is 1.4%.
If 2 people text using Samsung messages they have RCS features, like when 2 people using Google messages text, but when 1 google messages user texts with a Samsung messages user, it's kinda like the RCS features go away which is pretty wack in my opinion. I've been using Google.
Samsung messages can be used in the maximum power saving mode, but google messages can't (at least on s9) Google messages has rcs, which no one around me uses Also I can theme samsung's fwiw. Edit: also can't add google messages, and sync them on my galaxy tablet (tab A) Edit 2: google messages has a nifty web client.
Reactions aren't present on Samsung messages with RCS enabled otherwise it's a great app. They changed the default to Google messages in S22, probably will do the same for all in the future. Also the inbuilt video calling through duo works better and has better video quality through Google messages. Reply. true.
In my experience too, it seems Samsung messages supports dual-SIM much better than Google messages. Especially if you want to use your 2nd SIM for data, and 1st SIM for messages... Google messages is unable to send my messages and errors, but Samsung messages works fine. Yep. This was my experience as well.
Google has reactions and direct replies. Samsung has themes, better categories management and can pin more chats. Google Messages can be installed on other devices, while Samsung can only be installed on tablets. Samsung has the better tablet app, imo. 3.
