It does seem a bit off, but as someone who has run a Bedrock SMP Realm for over a year now, as well as having put many many hours into Java, I can contribute that mob spawning- at least currently in the development- doesn't actually feel or work out to be much different from spawningin Java, though for witch farms- in particular- we've used creative to make some adjustments.

Java is the original version that's just for PC. Bedrock is the old mobile version that was ported to console and PC. Java is objectively better if you have a PC. Bugs, a lot of bugs which is very disappointing. There are many differences, some major and some minor depending on your point of view.
I am looking to get into Minecraft with some friends. I have never played Minecraft before. 2 of my friends say they are playing it using Minecraft for Windows version but when I go to download it, there are 2 versions, Bedrock and Java. I do not know which one is the Minecraft for Windows version. My 2 friends say when they launch the game.
One thing that is barely mentioned is performance. Java Edition needs more resources and is less able to use them. Bedrock is more lightweight and can actually take advantage of multiple cores. If you aren't going to take advantage of Java (moddability), then it doesn't make a lot of sense to use it.
