Fri Mar 25, 2005 6:15 pm. Hi every1, needed some help with software for Vocal/Instrumental removal. What brands are available out there and which are best. I've seen a few Vocal removers but i was looking more for instrumental removal so i can have acapellas. I'm not sure if this is in the right topic area, but I would really appreciate the help.
UVR left the instrumental faintly in the background of a track I tested, while gaudiolab didn't. However, it sounds like UVR does a little better at minimising the frequency loss in the separated instrumental track. It also seems to leave a little bit less residual instrumental colouration in vocals transients than gaudiolab.
Hi all, sorry hadn't checked back in on this topic, thanks for all the suggestions, i actually have Izotope RX, so I tried that in the standalone instance, and it seemed to work pretty well, I was able to isolate the vocal, but not sure of the quality of the sound, but it's also from a 1990s rap song, so maybe original recording/quality aren't great
UVR is for sure the best Ive found for regular vocal extraction/instrumental. But do download the 'pro' models. They are free. Ive seen combination workflows that are absolute perfection, but I get lazy and just using one pass of the VR Architecture, 4_HP_Vocal-UVR is pretty fuckin amazing usually. Also, its way faster than it used to be.

to start, find a section of your take that has JUST the hum, and "sample it" with the plugin...then: 1. use ReaFIR at a very low reduction setting (just a few dB) and run your audio file through it. 2. Audition the results.
