2 1. The best starter in the G/S/C games is Cyndaquil! It is super effective against most of johto and kanto gyms + e4. You can teach the typhlosion thunder punch! I always one shot a feraligater! Plus it does really well against red! I was LVL60 and I used Flamethrower against his LvL 81 Pikachu and I one shot it!
