Does that have to do with me using Parallels Desktop or Mac? Before Parallels I tried on CrossOver and it worked ok-ish, but I did remove CrossOver in favor of Parallels. I tried reinstalling CrossOver on my Mac but Rockstar Launcher cannot even launch this time around. So I'm just stuck here. I have already approached Rockstar's customer service.

If you use Windows Defender You'll have to grant access to these exe apps. Navigate as follows. Windows Security - Virus & threat protection settings - Manage controlled folder access - Allow an app through controlled folder access. Allow these three. They're found in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games. Welks ️.
If getting your achievements and hours counted on Steam isn't important to you, I'd say go with the Rockstar launcher. I just purchased from steam during this holiday sale. Meanwhile R* Launcher hardly showed any discount, steam offered 60% off. Get physical discs.
Download the launcher. Add the executable to steam as a non-steam game. Run and install. Then install GTA from the launcher. Add GTA as a non-steam game. You can remove the launcher now if you like. Boot back into SteamOS. Change properties on GTA to run on proton experimental. Done.
14 votes, 11 comments. true. I know this is an old thread, but I had the same problem with Rockstar Launcher it just crashing when I pressed play on any of my games, so I thought I come here and post my solution since this thread comes up often when people search google for solution.
UPDATE: I re-named the "rockstar games" file found in the documents folder to "_rockstar games". I purchased on Steam, and need to start the Rockstar Launcher and launch GTAV before I open Steam. If Steam is already open, GTAV never launches. I don't know if this applies to your situation, but good luck!
