For me personally, before hitting the road I’d stop somewhere that has hot food available early in the day – around here that’s Jack in the Box or Arby’s – and order a couple of sandwiches or burgers or chicken strips that I can keep in the cooler.
Any bacteria OP might have introduced to the steak by touching it would have been killed once it went back on the grill. OP: Most restaurants are barely profitable as it is and steaks are expensive. (I recall going over a P&L sheet once when I was at Jack in the Box and discovering that our location’s net profit for the month was $6.)

It MIGHT say if you right click my computer and go to properties, and it MIGHT say if you go to NT diagnostics on your start menu (under admin tools, i think).
