About 6 sec at 7500' in elevation! That extra grand would be nice for that high rev lovin 6.1! Black 2007 JK Rubicon Unlimited: 6.1 BOR Hemi, AEV: bumpers, Pinters, 4.5" lift. 5:13's, New Kevlar 37" MT/R, Chromo Rear Shafts, Front: RCV Shafts, gussetted, sleeved etc etc etc (should have just bought a prorock!), all RED badged .
Honestly, with the 6.1 Hemi we have a more aggressive cam that is why the factory takes 5 degrees out of our car's timing if you have a 6speed (Torque Management prom) while shifting you really notice this when stock. Then if you decide to STROKE it to 426 cubics, think of the monster you will have.
Since this time started exploring all options to put power into the Kat, from twin turbos to superchargers to 4.2 strokers to the 5.0. After many years of review, I decided to go with the big boy Hemi 6.1 SRT V8 conversion, with Performance Innovations. The SRT-8 engine packs 425 horsepower and 420 ft-lb torque, in a car that will be over 1,400 ...
Superior to the 6.1, I think that cube for cube, the Hemi's are more powerful ( 5.7 LS1 350 hp vs. 5.7 Hemi 375 hp / 6.2 LS3 436 hp vs. 6.1 Hemi 425 hp ) But as someone already stated, They are really mod friendly and very cheap because of the availability. Hence my dilemna, I have been on both forum's trying to decide with to order R/T ( I ...
1) No. 2a) Unsure about cam, find someone whose done the same build and get whatever cam they got. 2b) Your piston design will dictate this for the most part. I would stick with whatever the ratio is now (10.5:1?) so you can run on pump gas and not have to make special considerations every time you fill up.
The SRT 6.1-liter HEMI’s crankshaft is forged from micro-alloy steel and rotates in tri-metal main bearings for high-load capability. The crankshaft damper is retuned for higher engine speeds. The SRT 6.1-liter HEMI features cylinder head ports designed with larger cross-sectional area. This allows 11 percent higher flow in the intake ports ...
The difference between 5.7 and the 6.1 in the JKs is minimal, from what I have gathered so far. I have driven a 5.7 equipped JK and found the power adequate, (obviously much better than the 3.8) not overwhelming by any means though. If the 6.1 is only marginal in difference, it probably is best to use the 5.7.

Still waiting on some parts to get it finally fully assembled and back in the car. Currently I've run into a little snag and I'm having trouble finding anything on the topic. I purchased some ARP 2000 rod bolts to ...
baldwinkw said: I have a new to me 2009 SRT8 with the 6.1 Hemi. I could use some help understanding what around town engine coolant temp should be expected as normal. Since the temps here have warmed up I am getting suspecious that my 6.1 may be having radiator fan issues. I can see coolant temp settle at about 215 and slowly begin to rise at ...
