The cells are not hard coded as they can change depending on the currency entered. The currency symbol is only entered when the value is entered. I would like to sum the values according to currency symbol in rows B1:B3 where B1 is Pounds, B2 USD and B3 Euro. Thanks in advance.
Number formatting does not change the display of text strings (which includes numbers stored as text like in this case). solutions I see: 1) Use a regular subtraction operator =B28-C25. This results in a number (not text). 2) Add to the formula something will convert from text to a number.
Very odd. I was able to change to other characters, but Excel 365 apparently doesn't permit removing all the instances of "sum of" at once and leave the date. My suggestion: Highlight the headings B15:L15, do a find and replace; will do an all at once. . . Find: "Sum of" replace with text of your choosing.
Re: Macro to insert a symbol. Using the Character Map (in System Tools), the Sigma character is. available as U+03A3 on the numeric keypad. This might be an alternative. way of getting the character into your sheet - it looks like * S * on. these newsgroups - you might want to embolden it and increase the font. size.
To attach an Excel file you have to do the following (paperclip icon does not work!): Just before posting, scroll down and press Go Advanced button and then scroll down and press Manage Attachments link. Now follow the instructions at the top of that pop-up screen.
The correct formulas for (x-xbar) don't carry over. For example, if I'm on the second data and the second data was on A3, the formula that was carried over after dragging it down would be (A3-B19). Instead of B18 which is where the xbar is, it would be B19. And then on the third data, instead of saying B18, it would be B20 and so on.
