Thank you, I did my best and had to ask some Targaryen history nerds for help and checking historical accuracy. My intention to make this map is just for fun and to learn something, and have an overview of the family tree while reading Fire & Blood.
Not really. Viserys I was married to Aemma. Aemma’s father was an Arryn, but her mother was a Targaryen. Daella Targaryen actually, and she married an Arryn because she and her brother who she would’ve been betrothed to hated each other, so their parents didn’t want them to marry. Barely any Arryn blood in Rhaenyra since that was the case.
Baratheons aren't Targaryens. Robert/Stannis/Renly's Grandmother was a Targaryen from the royal line, she was married off to a Baratheon. In actuality Robert was next in line after Daenerys for the throne (with about 5 people before Dany). They used his ties to the Targs to appease Targaryen loyalists when they overthrew them.
As a newcomer to the books, I find it interesting how much knowledge there were of the targaryen family prior to Fire and Blood! I tend to look up the family tree from time to time and noticed this one having a bunch of unknowns. Made sense since it's from 2012 Image by Gawen Westerling taken from the wiki of ice and fire.

This is a wonderful family tree, but I have one really in the weeds comment, that the children/ family offshoots of Elaena Targaryen aren't depicted. She had 7 children, into the families of house Plum, Longwaters and Penrose.
Soon to be posted tomorrow: “Truly the last version of the Targaryen family tree!” /s Lmao. Imagine the poor OP if GRRM were to tonight drop F&B II, which include Aegon IV’s 30 bastards and Targaryen princesses with four husbands and 12 children.
(Spoilers) My AU House Targaryen family tree Part 1 This is just something I came up with over the years, partly to change many of the women giving birth at 15 or younger, working with ASOIAF lore and the Crusader Kings II mod as guides.
