I used Cleanmymac recnelty to remove a old piece of software which didn't have an uninstall, and I needed to do it quickly. It worked. But now I feel the software is a little bit invasive. The quick menu you can't turn off (I've tried). There are some other features which seem helpful, but generally mirror what is already built into the OS.
This is really surprising. I installed CleanMyMac X to give it a try, but I do not want it. But I cannot get rid of it. I've deleted the app, but even after reboot there are two apps running: CleanMyMac X HealthMonitor and CleanMyMac X Menu. When I force quit them in Activity Monitor, they automatically restart.

I've been using it for a few years, but I've had a lot of problems with my Mac (with startup) lately and have had to reinstall my mac a few times now. Clean My Mac X I see a lot of topics on a program called Clean My Mac X. It seems to not have a lot of fans. My question is, if Clean My Mac X is so bad, why is it available in the Apple App Store? As far as I can tell, people either love it or hate it. Just wondering what the real deal is.

cleanmymac is one of the worst things you can install on your Mac. it is well known to cause issues within macOS while providing no benefit. one thing it can do is removing things that macOS needs to function properly. you can do a search of these forums and will see that A LOT of issues posted here are solved by uninstalling that junkware.
When it does this, it moves the file to the Avast virus chest. This is most likely the reason why CleanMyMac won't run. If you want to continue using CleanMyMac, then go to Avast, click on the Virus Chest, and restore the CleanMyMac file to its original location. Once you do that, it will run again. I hope that helps.
