A single brown tree cutter might cut several thousand miles of right-of-way in a years time. I doubt seriously that you would do that much in a lifetime just using it on the farm. In addition to the Skid-Steer/Mulcher and Tractor/Tree-Cutter options, you could also go with a Skid-Steer/Davco package.
Found a 6ft brown tree cutter for a good price which seems a bit on the big side but would demolish the trees. Otherwise I could go with a bush hog 306 or similar heavy duty cutter. Any experience with anything similar anyone can share. Thought also of getting a loader mounted tree shear for the stuff that is a little too big.

But unless you are planning on mowing 2000+ hours a year you may not need that HD of a cutter. You may want to price a bush hog 406 brand cutter as well. It is a very HD mower. Tractor. Kubota B26, M59, M5030DT. Bought an old, well worn 5’ brown tree cutter. Gearbox and stump jumper serviceable. Someone has tried to make blades from bush hog blades makes it very unbalanced. New blades are $165 each. Need four. Bolts are another $200. Only have $300 in it so far.
2009 Kubota M6040. I've been to the Brown web site and seen videos of those tree cutters. It's a sobering experience even viewing from inside a cabbed tractor. Even the Brown 600 series will do a real number on trees. The videos on the Brown site were consistently larger tree and a quite a bit of flying debris and dust.
The 2 products that I'm looking at are: Brown Tree Saw: Brown TreeSaw | New Product | Brown Manufacturing | 800-633-8909. AND. Dougherty Tractor Saw: Tractor Mounted Tree Saw. Both units appear to be very similar and cost about the same, around $5500 with the grapple attachment.
The Brown tree cutter is definitely an awesome tool to cut larger trees and brush. Perfect tool clearing in the woods. Glad I have four post ROPS with top. Got donked a few times cutting small trees. Not going to get rid of my HD 286 rotary cutter. Together they are a fine pair.
