A variety of templates and styles are available to create timelines. The {{Graphical timeline}} template allows representations of extensive timelines. The template offers complex formatting and labeling options to control the output. Typically, each use is made into its own template, and the template is then transcluded into the article.

Timelinesdescribe the events that occurred before another event, leading up to it, causing it, and also those that occurred right afterward that were attributable to it. Timelines are often bulleted lists or tables. Timelines in paragraph format (proselines) are not recommended.
This template constructs a vertically arranged timeline. The editor defines 2D rectangles (bars) and optional annotations (notes). The header is customizable. A scale appears on the left, and annotations appear on the right. An optional legend appears at the foot. Has built-in compatibility for geological divisions.
Use the SVG format whenever possible. If you can't, use any software to create the plot in a bitmap format but make it very large, for instance 6000×4500 pixel size with Postscript Times or Symbol font size 48 and a line thickness of 17 pixels. Then use software like Photoshop or GIMP to Gaussian blur it at 2 pixels.
