Optifine just doesn’t work well with fabric. Probably a bug due to how minecraft will have the text “Minecraft 1.20.1 (Modded)” unless you have mod list installed, but optifine comes in and wants to add their line of text giving the optifine version number.

Hey! The versions of Fabric API available for 1.16.5 have the mod ID set to "fabric" instead of "fabric-api". Switch out the dependency of "fabric-api" in your fabric.mod.json for the correct mod ID and it should work fine.

Forge has more inbuilt APIs for interfacing with Vanilla than Fabric. With Fabric there's only minimal 'helper' stuff, and it makes less changes to the game. With Forge the dev team has to adapt all their APIs to the new versions, which takes time, but it helps a lot for developers because a lot of work has already been done.

I currently have a React application that makes calls on behalf of the user to the Fabric API Job Scheduler - Run On Demand Item Job via the MSAL library. The endpoint is being used to trigger a pipeline which in turn runs a series of notebooks. This works perfectly when signing in as myself because I'm also the admin of the Fabric workspace.

We're currently working on a fluid API and implementation, extensions to item settings, and a rewritten resource loader, offering more features and full compatibility with Fabric API's resource loader. We're not ready for release yet, however we're working diligently to plan and create our APIs for use before 1.17.
