    Optifine just doesn’t work well with fabric. Probably a bug due to how minecraft will have the text “Minecraft 1.20.1 (Modded)” unless you have mod list installed, but optifine comes in and wants to add their line of text giving the optifine version number.

    Hey! The versions of Fabric API available for 1.16.5 have the mod ID set to "fabric" instead of "fabric-api". Switch out the dependency of "fabric-api" in your fabric.mod.json for the correct mod ID and it should work fine.
