The Xbox adapter is awesome. It supports 8 controllers at the same time or 4 controllers with voice and audio ( you can plug a wired headset in the controller for audio). Another option is to get an adapter from mayflash or 8bitdo. They connect to your controllers over Bluetooth but the pc sees it as a wired controller.

Update the controller firmware. Also ensure your Windows 10 PC is running the latest update. You can also remove and then re-pair the controller with the PC. Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter and see if that helps. You may need to connect the controller to your PC using the Xbox Wireless Adapter. See if this and/or this helps.
