I checked with Wireshark. It appears Acrobat makes a callout to "acroipm.adobe.com" and immediately crashes afterward. After remapping this domain to 0.0.0.0 with my 'hosts' file, it works fine, even when online: # stop Adobe Acrobat from crashing 0.0.0.0 acroipm.adobe.com . Note this is a fix for Acrobat X, but it may work for XI.
The only thing I've found that works on a Mac is to do what is said above and then use the arrow keys to scroll left and right and the wheel on the mouse to go up and down, which is a total pain in the butt! I just don't undestand why Adobe thinks it's a great idea to make this program nearly unusable with the update. So Frustrating!
