Yeah the Logitech controller is solid but I would still recommend the Brook wingman and a 360 controller, I know you don't like the button placement but 360 controllers are extremely well built and are essentially an enhanced s controller, those are pretty much your options
Logitech wireless precision controller is the only 3rd party controller I've used (or heard of) being remotely close to stock Xbox controllers in terms of quality. It's getting harder to find them in good shape these days.

To me the hunter controller feels better to grip then both of the official Xbox controllers. However, please see my negatives below. After play testing it on my original Xbox, I think it performs great. The buttons are all very responsive and in my opinion the rumble feature only felt slightly less than the S controller.

Check the controller for words showing its genuine status, for the one controller there should be a sticker found on the back under the batteries cap. Game ON!
I recently picked up some multiplayer games for the original Xbox but I only have one S style controller. I'm avoiding the Duke and S controllers I've seen on eBay because they look pretty gross/worn and new/sealed controllers are pretty expensive.
